1968 Amficar Model 770
Over 70 years ago, a German named Hans Tripper began experimenting with amphibious vehicles. After producing various models for the German Army, he began construction of a civilian version at the end of the war. Tripper named his post-war effort "Amphicar" and powered it by the Triumph Herald engine of 70 cu in.and 43 HP. Though it was popular because of its dual ability, it still fell into a novelty niche, and after many difficulties trying to comply with American smog and saftey regulations, production ceased in 1968. Just 3000 cars were built. Ours has 7,637 original miles and is still with original paint and interior. Maximum water speed is 6.5 knots while land speed is a mere 70-75 MPH.
